Anyone remember when Suzuki had a massive European sales push on the Burgman 400, prompted no doubt by the domination of their Italian market by Honda's SH300?
The year was 2007, and they hired Juventus captain and 2006 World Cup winner Alessandro Del Piero to promote the bike, and even named him, "Mr Burgman."
Dismissed by some of the motorcycling press as a mere publicity stunt, Suzuki chose Del Piero because he was already a Burgman rider, and had a 2006 400.

He was famous worldwide at the time, and absolutely massive in Italy.
Imagine Honda getting Bobby Charlton or Geoff Hurst to advertise their bikes on UK TV, the year after the '66 World Cup!

A truly great player who played most of his career at one of the worlds greatest clubs.
Not that I’d know anything about any of this as I’m an Ipswich Town fan so know not too much about great football currently..
