Right oh Jim, that was a very detailed account of the starter motor, thanks! Your gorgeous looking 650 is an import I gather as I don't recognise the colour scheme. Weren't most UK CX650s pearlescent white? Unaffordable for me at the time anyway.
I recall the 500s needed the engine dropped if something electrical failed at the rear, but I don't remember now what it was. I worried very little about that problem 33 years ago and just rode the thing.
FI, turbo and Pro-Lik suspension on your 650 I am guessing - all things my younger self could only look longingly at in those days!

Re: CX650
It shouldn't take them long. I sold a bike and bought one last year.
Both V5s were sorted out and with their new owners within a week.
I had two CX500s in the 80s at separate times. A tad top heavy but great bikes for doing mileage on.

Re: CX650
OK Cptn, having not received the paperwork yet I can’t say if the bike was an import but it’s def not a Turbo and the ‘E’ denotes for European market from my findings and yes it has Pro-Link rear suspension.Capt. I’m informed that it was completely re-built by a previous owner two years ago prior to him dying from cancer so I can’t get info on the colour scheme - but I think it’s great. I’ve got a set of engine protect bars on order to offer a little more protection for that lovely engine. When the bike finally arrives I’ll be able to give you more information I hope.
Looking at the new pipes in the photo it has not covered many miles since re-build judging by the bluing of the pipes.

Nice bike. I remember standing outside what is now Wigan Yamaha lusting after a black and red 500 all those years ago ('81) and have yet to own one. Unrequited love..
Bugger if the alternator packs up apparently..

I'm often looking for lovely condition CX500 but get cold feet with a purchase.
Ah, I can't recall which CXs were turbo'd. Yours is an E then, I don't remember the 650 in those days Jim. The VT followed soon after with the Revere nd NTV.

You’re just a little way away from me unfortunately Cptn, but they are about at around 2-1/2g, I’m not a bobber fan - good bike messed up in my opinion.
