Which SH300/350?

Post by scootabout »

My well used SH300 is due for replacing and I'd welcome any advice and opinions on which flavour SH to go for next.

I've had three of the 2007/2009 first model and loved them. I know the following model got a longer swinging arm, but lost a couple of horsepower. The model after that went keyless? The 350 got the power back, but if the engine mapping is like my Forza 350 (same engine), then it runs out of acceleration when you get the wrong side of 70 mph (or should that be the right side ;) ?).

My rides are often long touring trips (Round Britain Rally) and winter commuting. Sometimes two-up, with luggage. I'm under 70 kg/11 stone, so not too much weight to shift.

Especially happy to hear from anyone who's ridden all the SH300 models.

Many thanks!

You obviously like the SH, but personally I'd consider the Forza or ADV350s as well - more space and comfort.

I'd search for a late low mile 300, just can not fault them whichever model, they also do about 15 mpg more than the 350.
Im not a gynecologist, but I dont mind taking a look.

Actually, I already have the Forza 350. There's lots to like, but I don't love it like I love the SH300. My wife certainly prefers the SH300 and complains that there is too much space on the Forza, leaving a large gap between her (leaning on the top box) and me. It's like it was designed to have a child or two in that gap ;)

“Runs out of acceleration when you get the wrong side of 70” seriously?
That’s not my experience at all. I’m around 100kg and my 350 more than pulls over 70 (indicated). In fact I find it much more punchy than my old 2015 burger 400.

Yes, seriously. I feel that the engine characteristics of my first generation SH300 suit my riding better than those of the 350 Forza. In practice, this means I might go for an overtake on the SH that I wouldn't on the Forza.
But this isn't comparing apples with apples, as the Forza weighs much more than the SH (and the Burgervan MUCH more) + the turbulence over 70 on the Forza intrudes.

I have owned the 2011 sh300i and currently own a 2019 sh300i - performance and economy wise both are similar - the later model however has led lighting abs traction control and keyless ignition - both fantastic scooters
