Re: Trying not to get paranoid

Two weeks after it was lifted, I've got my TMax back. When I spoke to the Police vehicle recovery team yesterday, they said there were some scratches and a broken mirror. Not too bad I though. Then I collected it from the pound - ouch.

I'll be getting this fixed through the insurers and take a hit on the policy next year. Once it's sorted I'll be selling. Three thefts in 12 months is just too much stress, even knowing I've got a tracker keeping an eye on it. It didn't help that one of my neighbours was threatened this last time.

There are a couple of positives. Due to the lock through the back wheel and the Oxford cover I've still got that and the Solar charger, the Abus disc lock was still on the front wheel and the Almax chain is still long enough to secure the TMax to a ground anchor. Thanks to the tracker leading the police to my scooter they also recovered the van that was used to steal it and as that was stolen too, and on false plates, that's now going to get returned to its rightful owner.

Anybody want to buy three-year-old TMax 560? What to but next that won't attract thieving scum?

When mine was stolen, they hadn’t had time to strip it down, but they had broke the steering lock, obviously being an electric steering lock it was an eye watering amount to fix, plus i had weeks of hassle with the insurance company as the broker had messed up,thankfully the phone call was recorded when i took the insurance out, when the broker listened back they realised they had dropped a bollock and held their hands up.I enjoyed the Tmax but i park in a communal car park, the insurance just got silly.Hopefully my new Forza 350 will not attract the scumbag society,

That damage looks quiet significant, just wondering if it’ll be written off, what year is it?

It's a 2021 with less the 9k on the clock. Not sure how I feel about the possibility of it being written off.

Then again I feel the need to get something else less nickable just for the sake of my sanity, so that might be a good thing...

Yamaha plastic body parts can often be insanely expensive. And insurance repairs tend to include even the slightest marks. In theory it shouldn't be written off, but in the mad world we live in, who knows!

Indeed MrGrumpy, parts are dear, plus the insurance company will nominate one of their own repair (specialist 🥺)workshops whose labour rates are crazy, the labour rates could easily be £100 an hour,i guess there’s 10 hours work there, maybe more, thats a £1,000 + vat, then the parts, its bonkers,

£100 per hour is quite cheap around where I live. It's often near £110 to £130ph. Not too much different to car service work.
Probably not ugly enough for the 'Ugly Bunch'!
