Yeah, cameras are a great thing to have. My own car came with a fully integrated factory fitted camera. Wouldn't be without it.
Probably not ugly enough for the 'Ugly Bunch'!

Hello All, It's nice to get back on the forum - life got in the way for a couple of years and probably more - whilst on the subject of getting soaked from a puddle..........I'm teasing Mr G! Whilst on the subject of cameras, is there a consensus here on a helmet camera or bike mounted camera? I've seen one online that films both forward and rear, but that is as far as I've gone with my research. I'm not after an action camera that films my antics in HD, rather, a camera that for recording other road users.

Well I can only answer re. helmet mounted - I opted for that because I swap between open face and full face helmets depending on bike being used. You glue the generic mounting to the helmet, and the camera clips easily to that. (Yes, I know about glue and helmets, thanks everyone...)
The camera is a Techalogic; fore and aft lenses, around a 3 hour internal battery or can be wired to bike. Superb picture quality from forward lens, fair from the back. Sound quality is just wind noise! You can 'save' a 2 minute clip by pressing a button on the supplied wrist band, and view/download/save the pictures by bluetooth on smartphone or computer.
There's a good review here -

Thanks Greyerbeard, that's the one I spotted a year or two ago.
I take it, that this is the helmet camera you are using then?
Thank you also for the review - I do tend to like Bennetts reviews.

Yes, the Techalogic is the one I have. Haven't 'needed' it yet, thank goodness! But it would have been useful if I'd hit the dimwit jogger who wandered out in front of me before Christmas...
It's also been very noticeable that motorists don't tailgate me any more when they obviously spot the camera :)

Whilst riding my pedal bike on a long rides, some idiot in the passenger seat of passing cars would bellow loudly as the car was passing too close to me. It really makes you jump. This has happened quite a few times, and they seemed to find it funny. Different vehicles, different areas, no idea who any of them were - just part and parcel of cycling on the road minding your own business.
I also once saw something white arcing high towards me whilst I was riding my bike up a hill. My immediate thought was it a snowball? But there was no snow about. It hit me full in the chest, and whatever it was went right through my jumper and shirt, was very hot on my chest, and smelled of tomato soup. Someone from a passing van, going the other way had thrown a carton of soup at me. I had not been involved in any incident with the van ( I was going the other way ) and had no clue who the driver/ passenger was. There are some nice people about aren't there?

It doesn't just happen to cyclists. I was walking with my bro back from town after having lunch and a car full of passing reprobates hurled eggs at us as we walked on the pavement. I took a direct hit on my back. It was impossible to clean off the egg from my very expensive coat before getting home, therefore it dried on my coat requiring specialist dry cleaning. Sadly the coat has not been the same since. You can still see where the egg hit. Apparently egg is very hard to remove from clothing once dried on so the cleaners told me. So many arseholes!! :(

It seems to be all over the country - you in Essex me in Lancashire. Whatever the accent - plebs just the same!
The saving grace for me is I wear old stuff for cycling, on a par with my gardening clothing - so no damage done there. Sorry to hear about your expensive jacket - it's a good job you didn't manage to get hold of them. icon_angry_3.gif Mind you John Prescott got away with it, didn't he?
