It's a little bit different from the old board but not by much.
Click on User Control Panel which can be found at the top-left of any page:
Then click on Profile which i've highlighted in yellow:
Then click on Edit Avatar and u'll see a box to add the address just like the old forum or you are allowed to upload it to the MM server.
Click on Edit Signature to add your siggy banner.

Upload it to Photobucket then resize it to 100x100

i feel a right tit for asking, but how do you load an image or banner in your signature?, sorry to ask such a silly question but as ive said before im not that computer savvy

Upload it to Image Shack using the guide in The Showroom then paste the IMG code into a blank box marked Signature in your Profile.
Make sure the pic isn't too big, you can resize it with Image Shack by using their drop-down menu - choose 320 x 240.

Could we have a guideline for the max width of the sig. banners and avatars.
On the old board some banners were too wide forcing me to use the sliders or reduce the size of the picture to fit it all in which in turn reduced the font size making it hard to read for my old eyes
Particularly Pikey's TMAX GROUP banner
Also his avatar blocks out the start of the lines in his posts
