Re: Piaggio are saved!
Yes, the new VRS is silly money really. My Fabia was the 1.2 12v. Great engine and very willing but we loaded up the rear so much it struggled a bit at times. The Roomy doesnt sag at the back when loaded and the diesel is so torquey, its a much better all rounder than the Fabia... a Roomster VRS would be good.

I think suzuki model years run from OctoberbarryG wrote: Oh and the Burger 400 will be an L2 this year so my L1 will still be ultra rare and desirable
Mine is a ZA limited edition (40 units?), must be worth at least twice as much
I've owned some ultra rare vehicles (1 offs and less than 10 manufactured) unfortunately none of them show up on that site.
WE ARE THE BURG resistance is futile

Re: Piaggio are saved!
Because they look like a vintage Vespa, have a proven GY6 based motor, have decent componentry (naff indicators and number plate bracket aside) and retail for less than £2k with a 2 year warranty? Yep, pretty poor effort indeed.martb4632 wrote:Thats a bit harsh on LML scooters and their owners. Piaggio stopped making the PX about 4 years ago and only re started production because LML were selling so well especially in Italy as they were the only new metal bodied manal geared scooter available.barryG wrote:If I wanted that sort of scoot again Id buy the real deal, no way would I buy some Indian replica... its like buying a fake Rolex
I believe the Latest LML Italia range is at least as good as the Vespa PX, is at least a grand cheaper, and also has a 2 year warranty.
As I stated in my original post LML scooters are not without their faults but a lot of the parts on the new PX such as the carb (Spaco) and suspension (Escort) are made in India & are exactly the same as on the LML Star.
Some replica "Vespas" such as the chinese made Neco Abruzzi are a pretty poor effort but LML actually made The Vespa PX in partnership with Piaggio and some were imported into Europe bearing Vespa badges.
To 99% of the public ( not scooter snobs) My LML looks like a Vespa, sounds like a Vespa, and smells like a Vespa although unlike a lot of LML owners I'v not been tempted to re badge it as a Vespa.
Also it attracts a lot more attention from passers by than any of my previous twist n goes although I also enjoy riding autos.

Hmmmm to the untrained eye I guess you do have a point in that they do pass resemblance to a vintage Vespa. For some people who like the looks but can't be bothered with the hassle of changing gear or maintaining a 2 stroke I guess they would be a tempting proposition.
The main difference is of course that the Neco has plastic bodywork whereas the Vespa / LML / Lambretta scooters are of all steel construction.
I haven't actually seen one on the road yet in my part of the world although the nearest Neco dealer to me is just 15 miles down the road and they have been trying to sell them for over 12 months now.
The new "Lambretta" auto looks a lot nicer with its SYM engine and steel body work & I could be tempted by one of those for commuting to work on if one comes up at a decent price on the second hand market in the future.

Re: Piaggio are saved!
Round here we supposedly have three dealers stocking Necos, one is an unknown fly by night clothing retailer.... another is a very dodgy scooter dealer that has used threatening behaviour to its dissatisfied customers over the years and is rumoured to be going under, the last just doesnt ever stock them
Great way to sell a scoot, but I agree with Capitano... for the money they are very good indeed if you can find someoe to sell you one!

Re: Piaggio are saved!
Metal panels and a retro badge certainly don't make the Symbretta worth more than twice the price of a Sym Fiddle.
There won't be many coming on the second hand market if they don't sell well, at that price they probably won't.
Which is a shame because they look rather fabulous.

Re: Piaggio are saved!
Its like anything, in my view an Audi isnt worth more than a Skoda but people buy them. A Jaguar X type is only a Mondeo in retro panels but some bought them, a Fiat 500 is just a Panda with a big price tag but again people love them.
Of course, for some an image or looks or even deisirability have no sway over the old plain being tight arsed
Re the Lambretta vs SYM Fiddle.... bit like saying would you rather make love to a good looking woman for £300 or some old dog with no style for £150. I wouldnt buy a Fiddle if it were £500 and I wouldnt buy a Lambretta either, especially when I could buy the real deal from Vespa.

Re: Piaggio are saved!
True, the Jaguar X-type does have a few parts in common with the Mondeo.
Which is fine because the Mondeo is an excellent car.
Just not as good as an X-type.
