Argyll better later than never. Don't dismiss small cc engines as touring machine's. Just need to recalibrate your daily distances and speed expectations accordingly. It's very surprising how relaxing and enjoyable touring at legal ,or just under , speeds can be.

Got back home after 2 hours and 100 miles of fairly rubbish weather. Good fun though.

It's not a touring scoot, that's for sure, but something with a bit more room should do the trick. However, I can see lots of possibilities for using the PCX locally. It's a decent little bike.

I probably didn't get the best conditions to assess the bike properly but, overall, it's actually quite good. I did, however, find the ergonomics a bit strange, particularly the bars being so close to me and the feet-forward thing. It's definitely not like riding a motorcycle and I had a numb backside after a couple of hours. I'd prefer to sit further back, which doesn't seem possible, even with a re-shaped seat and I found myself most comfortable in that classic scooter hunched over position (if you know what I mean). I'd guess that a larger scoot would have more room to get comfortable although it's not going to be an issue on short trips, just longer rides. Quick thoughts after getting home....

The front brake feels wooden (maybe just new, of course)
The back brake is excellent.
Wind / weather protection very good.
Gets blown about in strong winds, but always feels safe.
General handling is fine.
Engine feels fairly strong and gets up to 50 very quickly.
Pulls fine on uphill stretches.
Saddle may take some getting used to, along with the general riding position.
Pillion pegs useful as alternative foot position.
Position of indicator switch not an issue.
Ridiculously light and easy to push about.
Under-seat storage excellent.
Suspension generally ok, quite a comfortable ride.
Reurned 100 mpg on 2 hour run home. That might improve.
Mirrors just about ok.
Tyres felt grippy enough.

I'd say that the PCX is definitely capable as an A road scooter, which was something I wasn't really sure about before. My short spells on the motorway today left me feeling quite exposed and I did get a lot of buffeting when sat behind HGVs and unable to pass them safely so A roads from now on, which is fine.
