When I was younger I remember the 2-stroke Gilera Runner 180cc was a demon.
At traffic lights it put to shame much larger motorbikes with ease.
But that was a decade ago. So who do you think is the successor of the Runner of old?

Re: Fastest scooter around 200cc?
I had a runner VXR 200 as a loan bike a few times when the Xevo was in for a service and it was good fun (once I got over the fact I probably weight as much as it does), felt quicker than the Xevo from a standing start. The guy at the garage said the 2 strokes were much faster though

Yep. I had a Runner 180 beat me away from the lights when I had a Honda SH300. Must say, I was taken aback until I figured out what had just whipped my ass.
The only thing that will have similar performance is either the SH300, the Vespa GTS300 or perhaps the new Beverly 350. The Yamaha TMAX 500 might just keep up from the lights if it had a tuned variator.

A TMAX Mk3 can barely keep up with a Vespa GTS300 up to about 25mph in standard form. Which is why the GTS is the ultimate urban warrior...

Both the GTS and SH300 match the runner in size so that sort of qualifies them as "competitors".
I'll google some specs when I'm front of the PC tomorrow.

i always thought tmax was slower than my previous burgman 650 off from standing start but the holy status of it here and anywhere else kept my mouth shut scared of harsh comebacksyellowMax wrote:A TMAX Mk3 can barely keep up with a Vespa GTS300 up to about 25mph in standard form. i am happy to hear that, although i own a tmax, it's not as fast as many would have thought...

Jetforce 125 Compressor.
Learner legal HP but torque of a 200cc. Or, get the dealer to change the settings and it goes up to 20hp.
