Burgman 400 K3

Post by Drago »

A 400 K3 Burgman has turned up at a nearby dealer.
Here's a Ebay link to it...

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Suzuki-400-K3 ... 5171887%26

Does it sound a good deal?

I'm know this is the older 385cc motor and the first model to be injected but is there any issues with these models, can anybody that own(ed) one comment on what they're like MPG, handling, storage etc?

I dont know much about that specific model but it looks immaculate for the age and miles. Must have been very well looked after, so if you are close, i'd say pay them a visit and take it for a ride, see how you feel.

For a dealer and condition thats good K3 injected was better than previous carb models they solved a lot of issues especially rear wheel as it unbolts bit like a car wheel rather than being on splines still has linked brakes as well unlike the newer ones has adjustable valve clearances so cams dont need reshimming like newer ones but single can instead of double cam like new ones .Id buy that over a brand new one at 5K anyday

Looks lovely and a good buy if it sounds and goes ok. I don't think the first K3's over here had fuel injection, but I may be wrong. Anyhoo...a good bike and it's unlikely you can go wrong on that one.
Probably not ugly enough for the 'Ugly Bunch'!

Been riding for 54 years & owned too many bikes to list here...

There is a Burgman for sale (in a car garage) near me.
Same colour and year as this one and nearly the same price.
But it does not look in as good condition...so this one could! be a good deal.

Even better (cheaper and easier to repair) if non injection simple cab and cdi

Looked up and this is an injected model. FI light is in bottom L corner of the dash.

1998-2002 (W-K2) models are the carb models

K3-K6 models are injected with the 385cc motor/single brake/smaller wheels.

K7+ is with the 399cc motor, dual discs, bigger wheeled, face lifted model.

This site is pretty good, specs for the 1998 up to 2007 burgman 400's.

Interesting to note that this K3 model is just 1-3kg heavier dry than my
SYM GTS 250!!! Also the wheels are the same size as my GTS, though the wheelbase
is longer. I've worked out that it can't be no more than 8KG heavier than my GTS wet,
so it has an extra 30% power to weight ratio.
