Looks like the TMAX is quicker up to 50 mph ish, although there isn't much in it. I'm not surprised though as the BMW has 30% more power and torque than the TMAX even if it is 25% heavier.

This is exactly what I found. The tmax is more responsive off the mark. And this was unexpected on my test ride. It quite confused me!

What that shows is that there isn't much in it at lower speeds. Probably something to do with the Yamaha's lighter weight and wet clutch. The BMW is faster than the older TMAX (Mk3, which was my previous scooter) at city speeds, that's certainly my impression. Even the lightweight Vespa 300 could keep up with a TMAX up to about 30mph.

So the point is that speed isn't a factor at the moment. Seeing as there are 3 sport maxis that perform more or less the same.
Quite a disappointment really. SRV850, Tmax530 and C600sport and none of them is leading with a big difference. We need harder competition "dammit".

The SRV is a barge compared to the other two. As the video above demonstrates the BMW succeeds better where the TMAX fails - roll on acceleration from medium speeds... which is why I bought mine. I think...

Well that and because it looks coolDougL wrote:...which is why I bought mine. I think...
I thought the srv raped both the tmax and BMW in acceleration but had crap handling?
I'd like to see how the newer lighter burgman 650 performs. With it's ecvt I'd expect it to do better than the beemer and the tmax from a standing start.

It does succeed better but I guess I expected more. I want tougher competition. I hope next gen will be better.DougL wrote:The SRV is a barge compared to the other two. Have you changed variator weights yet?
