Not really...the huge weight slows it down. When I went from a Burger to a mk3 Tmax, the TMax felt faster... especially at high speeds surprisingly.rtfm wrote:
I'd like to see how the newer lighter burgman 650 performs. With it's ecvt I'd expect it to do better than the beemer and the tmax from a standing start.

Re: BMW C600 Vs Tmax 530 acceleration
I don't think the video demonstrates mid range acceleration. The big difference between the mk3 and mk4 Tmax is that the mk4 has a lot more mid range acceleration eg if you are trying to overtake someone doing 40. It just drives...feels like a diesel.DougL wrote: As the video above demonstrates the BMW succeeds better where the TMAX fails - roll on acceleration from medium speeds... which is why I bought mine. I think...
But as the video indicates, the mk4 Tmax doesn't have a huge amount higher up, certainly no more than the mk3. Once you've got to higher speeds, the BMW power advantage kicks in. Its clear that, as stated by Yamaha, all the work on the mk4 has been to work on acceleration up to around 60mph.

Just a shame the only vid of an srv 850 vs Tmax 530 is in traffic and not going fast, I have searched utube and found no acceleration vids of an 850, Wife says for my 50th next year I may be able to get a new scoot and was thinking of the SRV, as ex demos are about £6700

I did have a ride on the Mana (with same basic engine). That did go like stink away from rest! Didn't like much else about it though... On the other hand the SRV is very beast, so may not be absolutely as sparkling as you might expect.R1K SU wrote:Just a shame the only vid of an srv 850 vs Tmax 530 is in traffic and not going fast, I have searched utube and found no acceleration vids of an 850, Wife says for my 50th next year I may be able to get a new scoot and was thinking of the SRV, as ex demos are about £6700

Re: BMW C600 Vs Tmax 530 acceleration
having just gone from Mk 3 T Max to C600 I concur the T max has the edge from zero to 20/30 but then the C600 storms on . I find the pace really gets going over 30 and its very stable . Not as flickable yet but I'm running it in . I like all the toys and ABS . It even has traction control , which is not mentioned in the hand book . It was a close call between a Mk 4 T Max and the C600 , both are fantastic . It's funny how most motorcyclist's just don't get them !! They are the future !!
