What are the particular pitfalls or areas of potential grief on a '01 250 Majesty ?

Thanks in advance
They are pretty strong things actually, though somewhat agricultural. They get you around and have character, but not terribly sophisticatedly.
My old Maj (probably older than 01) had a rear cable operated drum brake that did remarkably little, and the whole thing became even more flexible chassis wise than Mr Yamaha intended.

I did over 1000 miles in less than 24 hours, if it's 2001, it will have a disc rear brake and twin headlamps.

Dave,

Thanks - where are the model change points - am I right in thinking there are three "generations" of Majesty?

That's true, 2 x 250's and the 400.
The 250 mark2 I had was a 2000 year model, I went to Scotland and came back the same day, the scoot was fantastic, considering I changed down from a Pan-European, on the way home it was flat out (78mph) for about 6 hours just stopping for petrol, mostly at night in the rain. It returned about 80mpg.

Can't help you with the T-Max, but my X-Max 250 on a 57 plate has been totally reliable over the two years I have had it with minimal maintenance - just have a look at general condition as mine is a little bit tatty underneath as the previous owner stored it outside.

Good luck

Check the exhaust as new ones are a bit thin on the ground. Replacement non OEM can be problematic to fit and also have been known to knock the edge off performance, and the 250 hasn't got a lot of spare.
