Japanese wind is tricky, they used to do one called "divine wind" but I can't remember if the word for wind was the " kami" or "kaze"
I'll try a different dealer for the gasket (yes it is the sleeve one)

SORTED!
Thank for the advice chaps, took the muffler off today and the graphite sleeve had obviously been re-used a lot as it was elongated and very thin, you could also see wire mesh breaking through the graphite.

Quickly replaced and checked for leaks by putting my hand over the end of the pipe, must admit I was expecting the engine to want to stall but there seem to be some leakage from where the decorative cover fits on the end of the pipe. Anyway tried it on the road and a nice sounding engine now.
Next job fit a Sat nav mount.

Misery, yes you will get some slight wind leakage at the rear when you put your hand over it. That's perfectly normal.

I'm a bit late coming to this party' sorry! My exhaust washer often blows but I quite like the sound. The dealer replaces it at most services, about £12, but it always blows again after a few months. I do mainly fast road runs, which may not help.
