I remove most of the old fluid from the reservoir first, fill up and then start bleeding, starting with the longest pipe run, don't create air leaks and pump through until you have new fluid showing in the clear plastic pipe you fitted to the brake nipple.

Ah, a technical question. At first sight I thought it was going to be a criticism....

On the combined nraking they always state do rear first then do front combined firsr
I use a non return valve in middle of clear tube which feeds into a 500ml plastic fanta type bottle. Just pierce hole thru lid. That way you can just pump the brake lever an add fluid. And just watch the bottle .
You can get the non return valve off ebay for £3 item number 302004324070 and then get a used bottle for the end

If the brakes are not linked it surely doesn't matter which one you do first as they are completely independent of each other???
How can either have any influence on the other one ?

On the K8 the front and rear brakes are independent of each other. The left lever works the back and the right the front. When I changed from my K2 I spent six months just using the left lever and thinking how crap the brakes were.
