Oh, I don't know. A battered and scraped to hell scooter is probably the best thing to buy if you're planning to commute or park it in a city centre (esp. London!)

But yes, make sure it runs properly. An easy thing to do to gauge its condition is to use the gov.uk site to check the MOT history.

This will tell you if it is taxed and MOT'd, confirming some basic details about the bike, too: https://vehicleenquiry.service.gov.uk/

This is what one of my old 250cc Quasar engine Pugs comes up with when you use the latter link above (this was a 2015 test, the last two it has passed )

•Front Brake master cylinder fluid level dangerously low (3.2.B1d)
•Front Hydraulic brake control feels spongy (3.1.4a)

•Front Tyre valve stem damaged which could cause sudden tyre deflation (4.1.2c)
•Roller brake test The less effective brake control does not achieve an efficiency of 25%. (3.3.A2b) Dangerous

•center stand pivot excessively worn

Cor - I've only ever had one advisory on a scoot MOT (low rear brake pads)!!!

Well this was a year after I sold it and it was on 34k miles at the time. Just needed a bit of tlc
