A friend Ian, is looking for a bike/scoot shed or similar, he has a honda NC. Is metal better than wood?? as metal ones are cheaper. Anyone bought one recently.??

I can't say I've really any first hand experience, but a while back I did look at bike sheds from Asguard, made of metal. I think they've got to be better than timber garden shed types. The Asguard sheds are bike-specific and cost about £12-1500 but look securely made from coated metal panels.

I bought a Yardmaster 10x8ft steel shed , it cost £175 (was a offer on) from Argos.
Mine is on a wood base.....was told if they are erected on a concrete base they can suffer from condensation. ...mine does not.
Just enough room to work on the bike in there.....and the double sliding doors make access easy.
It is like a oven in summer and a freezer in the winter......but with the bike being out of the elements It is doing a good job of keeping the bike in good condition.

The only comment I can make is wood will absorb the damp making last less time metal or concrete garages like I have don't absorb the damp last longer but everything rusts quicker inside?

I mounted a small extractor fan on mine......but even with it off I get very little condensation. .....think the wood floor soaks it away.

Dave has a metal bike safe. Its very solid. Metal suffers from condensation thought unless it has a floor attached/sealed like a ground sheet. Ive put together a few of the big plastic sheds from costco. They are not bad either and have a double door like a garage door.

Check with your insurer to see if Bike is insured in a shed,some insist on a brick built building.Wooden sheds in my experiencesuffer serious condensation

My insurance will not accept my steel shed.....all they put on my policy is my bike is kept on my property.

I have a proper 8x5 bike safe, like fort knox, has vents but still lets everything get soaked in condensation but worth it for how secure it is.
