I had the same shock when I came to the first service on my Xmax. Thought it was free - dealer wanted £150. Fortunately found another closer dealer that did it for £100.

Off to Southport today, round trip of 74mls this will take the SYM just over the 1000km mark. Going on hols for a couple of weeks so, will service it when I get back.

Dealer never replaced the final drive oil on the SH at first service - despicable - did it my self...

I used the Halfords Semi Synth 10w40 M/C and Scooter Gear Oil... £8 for 1lt...

I would say YES it is , think about it, One opening is where you put the oil in, the other is where it drains out. Only question is how much to put in, most engines have a dip stick and if you know roughly how much it takes put that in, then use the dip stick as a guide to get the level right.
