New Engine needed

My Sons Burgman 400 (14 Plate) has thrown a wobbler and we have been advised to look for a replacement motor. Any suggestions as to where to start searching? We have looked on e bay etc.

Also is there any change in engine design and fixing points etc? Could you put a 2010 in a 20114 frame?

Thanks

New engine on a 14 plate?
First time I’ve heard a burger needing a new one. Some huge mileage racked up.
What was the cause?

My money, what little a GPO worker has from the pension is that it can be fixed.
BTW Lyn I'm in Wales next week, if it's at yours I'm sure some 81's, cutters and a voltmetre will trace the fault.

I'd also be cautious about that advice.

Barry (Nexusmaximus on here some while ago) had the same told to him about his Burgman which was only a year out of warranty.

Some issue with the oil pressure indicator constantly lighting up, despite sensor changes and no apparent fault.

What he was told was that it might be OK to just continue using it and ignore the warning light. Then again it could seize at any time. The most economic remedy to cure it was apparently a replacement motor.
