Scooters in Bali, Indonesia

I've been in Bali for a couple of weeks

Most popular scooters are the Honda Vario 125cc (hundreds and hundreds of them) and lots of Honda Scoopy 125cc

I've seen some Honda Vario 150cc as well

There are some new 2018 Honda PCX's and Yamaha Nmax 155

Seen a few Xmax 300's

I see lots of family's of four, on the one scooter (mum, dad and 2 kids -- who needs a BMW SUV for the school run..........)

My rented scoot is a New Honda Vario 125. Electric start, fuel injected, water cooled (same motor as the PCX 125)

Looks like Honda and Yamaha have a hold on the scooter market here. I never see any Chinese brands at all

One of the best places in the world to practice 'ride to survive'. Hired a few honda's there over the years, but last time had a brand new Nmax . Quite nippy through the crazy traffic at rush hour.

'Scooter central' seems to be Taiwan. Especially the capital Taipei. Check out any of the several videos on Youtube. There is a sea of scooters and the occasional car drowning in it. Much like most large cities in the far east.

The Honda Vario 125cc sells for about $2200 AUD in Bali

But the Tmax sells in Bali for a whopping $30,000 AUD, that's twice the price than what we pay in Australia for a Tmax.

The Yamaha R1 sells for a eye watering $60,000 AUD in Bali. It seems the govt here adds an insane amount of tax to big engine motorcycles

Check out the bikes sold here https://www.yamaha-motor.co.id and http://www.astra-honda.com/product-list/all

I'm in Bangkok today on my annual holidays, its wall to wall scooters, as was Chang Mai last week.
Last year, Cambodia was full of them, and Borneo the year before.
No doubt next year, Vietnam will also be full too.

Welcome to the far east mate. Scooter heaven, even the cops ride them.
