Depends. If I was on the DN then breakdown cover, a phone, charging lead and bank card will carry the day. If on the 32 year old Fusion, or the 28 year old Helix then nothing less a boot full of spare parts, tools and fluids will do, but only because bits will be hard to find if the shit hits the fan. In reality, both have been to foreign (and done other long trips too) in my stewardship and done just fine - I just like to be prepared.

As you rightly say to be prepared is good, but I am guilty of over thinking things generally, put a couple of flyers up other day to try and recruit members locally?

Well, possibly... if your steed is new or nearly new (I'm assuming this - I'm in a tiny minority on here riding stuff that's well into its third decade) then I wouldn't worry too much - get some breakdown cover and crack on :D
