How about this then, from a Vespa web site:
"Vespa Elettrica will be the first Piaggio Group product to adopt innovative machine-man interconnectivity solutions."

So all previous Vespas haven't had machine-man interconnectivity solutions then? I seem to remember that when I first rode a Vespa in 1965 that I could actually reach and work the handlebar controls, and the petrol tap and choke.
So the overtime-working marketing types have been at it again.

By the way I have owned probably 100 Vespas from about 1965 to about 1985. I even bought one which was a shell, and I mean even the 'vespa' aluminium name plate on the front leg shield and the GS160 badge on the rear wheel arch had been un-riveted, all cables and the wiring loom removed and the stick-on number plate numerals had been peeled off. There was not a nut or bolt that could still be removed, the circlips holding gears onto shafts were off as were the gears themselves. I had gone to buy a radiator off a guy, and his son showed me the rad in his shed. When he opened the door I gasped: there was a GS160, sitting there completely nude. I could tell it was a 1964 model because the B in the regitration was outlined in dust on the number plate in a box. I said "I was a MOD when that was new". The lad said :Gosh, were you?" "Yes," I said. " I think I still have my Parka with Union Jack sewn onto the back in my loft"
"I'll swap it for your Parka" he said.
"Where are all the bits" I asked. " In these boxes on the shelves. It's all there. We took it to bits and now we can't put it back together".
I thought about his dad, who was about 6ft 6ins so I thought I had better offer him a fiver and the Parka. He greatfully accepted and I duly collected twenty boxes of gear cogs, piston rings which had been removed from the piston, which in turn didn't have the gudgeon pin or circlips, and so on.
Over the course of a few months in my spare time I resprayed and rebuilt it. I then advertised it for £350, in 1985. Idiot. I didn't realise I should have an extra 0 on the end of the price. I could have sold it for £3500 easily if I had realised what it was worth. DOH!

Well that's the Polini Variator on (Hi Speed 9 roller version), aramid reinforced belt, 3G Race Clutch & Bell housing.
Also had a Polini air filter fitted. Rode it back from the shop: more responsive & smoother acelerating and decelerating, lag & 'flat sports' vastly improved on..good bang for the buck :D
