Stephen, Welcome to the world of Helix, sure you will enjoy it once things are sorted, my advice is to stick with Bridgestone tyres, they’re not cheap but last year I got a pair from Taiwan - OEM, didn’t worry about their cost as have spent quite a bit on other parts, mine has recently passed its M.O.T. with no advisories; just dealing with a vibration prob at moment but otherwise bike is like GoldDust, do please keep us informed of progress.

Well today I was hoping to get a lot done, but those Tupperware pieces kept me busy for hours. They do hide a lot of surface corrosion though and muck.

So oil change, filter cleaned out, Slick 50'ed, coolant change, sort out the non working park brake thingy, reconnect the US running\indicator lights and remove a cheap and nasty 90's alarm system.

Still a lot to do at the rear and some more servicing items when they arrive. I'm away all this week so work on hold to the following week. Updates then.

While apart I'd deal with the rust areas on the frame welds, a good rub down, killrust (or similar), and some Dinnitrol.

It really looks like the ‘HELIX SQUADRON’ is building, Stephen - you’ve jumped in feet first and you’re doing well, congratulations! I have a ‘spare’ right side rear trunk panel (Honda Red) needs repair to a couple of lower fixing lugs), reluctant to throw it away if any use (carriage only).

Whilst you have the Tupperware off I would recommend bypassing the footbrake starter cut-out. It is a simple job to join up two wires but access is impossible with the tupperware in place. The cut-out is designed to stop the scooter driving off by itself when starting but it is just a pain, particularly if you stall a cold engine. If the cut-out is bypassed you can fire up the engine whilst still rolling. I would not be too bothered by the parking brake....I have never had the cause to use it.

You might also be able to fabricate a carb' support bracket. They are available from Honda but a bit expensive. The purpose is to support the carb which otherwise is only held by a rubber inlet manifold, this will eventually fatigue and crack and cause poor running.
