The T-Max *is* a lot of fun, that's for sure...and I do hate spoked wheels...

Why is your T-Max stuck in a workshop?

Yes, the spoked wheels would another piss-off - I'm not that anal about keeping scoots clean, but cleaning spoked wheels would be a nightmare! Enough reason to choose the Integra rather than X-ADV on that alone!

You must have forgotten my tale of woe with the Tmax.... on the way back from the drive belt recall, a bearing somewhere between the CVT and the final drive failed causing an immediate seizure of the rear wheel - fortunately I was only 10m short of my house and only doing 10mph when it happened! So it got transported back to the same dealership I'd just ridden from, and took a whole FOUR MONTHS to get sorted. Still don't know quite why it took so long - apparently the failure was unprecedented and Yamaha Japan got involved, and then parts had to got from Japan rather than the European parts centre in the Netherlands. After the CVT upgrade, its now working as it should for the first time in well over a year. Even my off-throttle surging issue is drastically reduced, presumably due to the remapping at the recall.

Oh snap, I think that must've happened before I joined the forum! I once had something similar happen on an old Peugeot Trekker 50, but 4 months?! I'd be livid! I'm glad you've got it back again now, and extremely glad you weren't hurt when the thing seized up. Scary stuff...

I don't want to think about what would have happened if it'd failed at 80 in the outside lane of the M25!!! Presumably that was part of the reason why Yamaha Japan got involved....

So, getting my NC thread back on track... :?

Saturday morning, Early, Frosty, Foggy and Fresh saw my return back to the land of Doble's...
600 mile service (at 735 miles...) had to wait for a Saturday rather than take time off work...
Engine Oil Filter, DCT Filter and 10w30 Fully Synthetic Oil according to the invoice,
Oh and a wipe over with the oily rag that is listed as Consumables and/or Environmental Disposal
£140ish rather than £160ish as charged 1 hr labour @ £65+vat rather than the usual 1.2 for the DCT model...
We are good to go again! Next stop 8000 miles! - None of the usual Dearly quoted 'yearly' nonsense...
From the Honda Owners Handbook the only think listed as 'Annual' is an oil change...
So it will get some of Castrol's Finest 10w30 (care of Halfords and a Trade Card) at the yearly interval, which should be at about 4000 miles, so an interim oil change, but in my garage, rather than gracing the Doble's workshop...

Hoping for some Dry Time to get out on the NC, I do like the DCT!
SH (Dobbin) is plodding along on Commuter Duties, currently at 31500 miles...
So an oil change in a 1000 miles, be a nice Christmas Present for it... and an excuse to get out in the garage!

What’s a DCT filter
I've got the Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT) / Auto Model...
It has a Canister Oil filer low down by the sump, and a second, small paper element oil filter higher up by the clutch...
The Standard model only has the Canister Filter by the sump...

Some have mentioned 'Gear Changing Issues, or Creap etc. when 10w40 is used depending on temperature etc.
I would of imagined 10w40 to be fine for our climate and wide spread of temp...
But when both are available...

SH is also quoted as 10w30, although I have been 5w40 Halfords Fully-ing the SH... 'specially at winter time...

Please explain to someone who doesn't know very much about the DCT why you could get creep with different oils - what sort of clutch does the DCT have (not the internal clutches obviously)? - I presume it doesn't have a centrifugal clutch like most scooters with CVT, or does it? :?:
