Alot of reviews say they can sit at 60mph all day is that a perfect condition scenario or real world with hills wind etc.Any info appreciated Thanks

I haven't owned a Pantheon but pretty much all these 125's will do 70 mph so will sit at 60 with no problems. I quite like the look of the Pantheon, they've got a maxi scooter look but are a bit smaller. 8-)

I think a major hill will probably knock a bit off that but I could be wrong.

I had an S-wing 125 which I believe is an updated Pantheon and that would run happpily at 70 most of the time but a hill steap enough to have warning signs about the gradient might drag that down to 55 max and that was a brand new bike.

My B125 never slowed down like that. I'd look for a liquid cooled leader 125 engined scoot, with 15hp they are right on the learner limit.

The Pantheon is 14.8hp which is as fast as a 125 will get. http://www.bikez.com/motorcycles/honda_ ... 5_2002.php

Thanks for all the replys that sounds good enough I like doing long journeys solo on small machines I drove from Ireland to France and did a bit of a tour on a 1980 honda 200 benly, from the sound of it the pantheon should be at same level of performance .I see the link that shows pantheon at 14.8hp but thats 2 stroke is the 4 stroke the same, just getting into scooters going to try a tour on scooter next summer. What scooters have the liquid cooled leader engine.Im not a learner just like keeping it small under 250 have done all the big bike touring and its just not as much fun as small machines.

A CD200 twin will probably have more power and torque than a 125 scooter.

The new KTM Duke 200 looks like it'll be a lot of fun.

The Pantheon became the S-Wing 125 with a facelift a few years ago.

So I could take it that solo with luggage i could sit at 60 mph on pantheon all day if I was mad enough and nothing got in my way.

If you have a full licence, get a 200/250, the fuel ecomony is the same.

But you want a LC Leader, they are found in many Piaggio group scoots like the x7, x8, x9, x'evo, carnaby, runner, sportscity, B125 to name but a few. One of them will just about top a real 70mph. A 250 will do just under 80. I haven't GPS'd the X9 250 yet, but the digidash says 87 and there was a little left (not thats the real speed!).

The last of the CD200 Benlys became the CB250 in 1993-2002, it has the same engine, increased to 234cc's, single carb, 12volt, engine, alloy wheels and tubeless tyres. I brought one with low miles and a few turn up on Ebay.
It must be the most simple of bikes to fix, very little to go wrong, air cooled, no radiator, thermostat, fuel pump, fuel sender. No oil filter, no ECU, a choke and a light on/off switch.
You do get better weather protection from a scooter for touring, but there have been great strides in waterproof clothing and footwear in the last 10 years, so a small bike will do a good job touring. Should anything go wrong, nothing is hidden from view and a fix should be simple.
I get between 80-110 mpg in use and it has a 16 litre tank, I fitted a 4 point Givi screen, and use a tank bag and panniers to carry stuff. It's a good touring small bike if your not in a hurry.
Having said all that, an Swing is worth trying, I would stay with Honda (built in a Japanese factory), if you want reliability.
