I gotcha now.

What you were being paid April '09 to March '10 was based upon your income '08-'09.

The new amount you are entitled to is based upon your higher income '09-'10. The £450 is an overpayment for April, May and June as HMRC assumed that your income for '09-'10 was the same as '08-'09 until you told them.

By the way, you aren't alone.

I made a similar f*ck up when my Son was due, inadvertently claiming too much mortgage tax relief (now scrapped) which resulted in me having a zero tax threshold for the two years when we'd dropped onto one income with our first child.

You get over it, eventually though it's tough.

In terms of the scoter situation, your best option is just to consolidate what you've got for longer, ie keep the Sportcity running.

Yeah that's what I intend to do.

It'll be interesting to see how many miles I get before it dies.

What's the bets on the top mileage?

Anyone want to put a bet on or higher than 40k miles?

I managed to make a Harley Sportster run for over 90,000 miles and still got £2500 for it when I sold it :D

Mind you it was radically different in the end if only because of the parts I'd had to replace along the way.

Go for it! :)

It's about time I stuck with a bike. So I'll try my best to stick it out. I guess as long as it doesn't come to the point that a repair will cost more than the value of the bike.

Hmm I think this bit could be worth a new topic alone!

I wonder who would sponsor me

Thing is, when it starts reaching that stage of "is it worth it" you find different things out.

I went through the original HD battery in a year on that Sportster and the Genuine HD replacement that cost over £100 lasted just over a year (just out of warranty).

The second battery failure coincided with me being incredibly skint and I contemplated laying the bike up and getting lifts to work till I could afford to get another battery.

However the local bike shop got me a Chinese battery of the right physical size for £13 and I fitted it as a stop-gap instead.

It lasted at least the next 7 years and I sold the bike with that battery still fitted.

I did the same thing with the ignition coil, fitting an accel replacement when the original failed then fitting a £1 2CV one from a used parts bin when the accel one failed. The 2CV one lasted the rest of my time with the bike. :D

Hey masterchop what do you reckon about another FA Cup draw against each other?
I know we lost but it was a good match

I'd have no objection to another F.A Cup draw although I'm pretty sure you would have the edge this time round.
The best we can hope for is retaining what we have but our numbers will be very short meaning any significant injuries would scupper us.

At the moment it's about 9 senior players left and the rest are all kids coming through.
