I think you made the right decision as a previous bike owner myself I found doing the daily commute was becoming tiresome with constant gear changing adding to an unrelaxed ride. I went for a new 125cc, never having owned a scooter before, I was concerned as to it's power ability and of course the ridicule I may get coming from a 600cc. I absolutely love the journey to work now and my fuel economy is in the high 90's with the last two fill ups topping 100mpg. As for ridicule, I now don't give a shit what folk think, I'm a winner hands down.
I recently was on the lookout for a Suzuki 400 burger and let one go on ebay that was a 2009 with 200 miles on the clock for £3250, I now kind of regret that, but I had to ask myself the question why did I want a larger scoot and if it is just to do my 24 mile daily commute, then there is no point, but I would like to tour europe, maybe next year.

Well I picked her up yesterday, my first scooter ride was Liverpool to Birmingham, purposely avoided the motorway to learn better, and be kinder to the X7.

first impressions, well, at speeds of 60 up its just plain daft, the handling is crude, suspension is `token` brakes just adequate front end feels ridiculously light and steering vague following any imperfections the road throws at it. at 60 my Daytona feels safe, `planted` solid, I can stop in a fraction of the time or go on to 150...when legal, and it still feels the same....

But, at slower speeds, it cut through traffic, its light steering made it ten times more manovarable, I could see ahead far better and was sat really comfortably with my rucksac spare helmet food etc all chucked under the seat, I got off two hours later with a big grin on my face, it was just plain fun, only in a different way. as they say, horses for courses, this will do just fine for work, I`am glad i got her.
thanks for the comments lads, your all right in different ways, see you out there... :D

Glad you like it for the purpose you bought it for. The X7 is rather a budget option but suited for the normal commute type stuff, you'll grin even more when you see the fuel bills too. My 400 is managing an average of over 70mpg and I beleive the 250's manage at least 80-85mpg.

Daytona=fun
X7= practicality - simples!
