Topbox & fittings

Post by Sweep+1 »

Hi all, I want to fit a topbox on my 2019 650 executive & I quite like the Givi monokey.
I’ve been assured that I have got to have a SR 3104 rack, jeez have you seen the price of them☹️
I don’t want a cheap cheap ( as the canary says) one, I’m finding all these racks/plates boxes rather confusing.
Can anyone advise please.

Hi sweep, yes the monokey is the more “durable” luggage as opposed to the mono lock and more suited to your Burgman. Looks like the rack you need also needs a £35 ish plate? You can get the set for around £100. If you’re keeping the bike it’s worth the investment IMO. Best of luck.

buy used. tons of people selling theirs on cg or facebook for much cheaper. biggest problem with all top boxes is the fade from sun and heat. needs to be repainted. use a lot of the box has its included "quick release plate it sits in, but the bike needs a platform to intall on it. get sandwhich wood (not sure of the name. its multiple wood sheets all glued-very strong) paint it with paint and use that. cheapest route. or if you have minimal welding skill, get some 2" strips of 3-4mm metal strips and build one. very easy.

the burgman has the seat youll need to remove and a replacement cover. unless you get a mount that extends from the back, making it VERY long for reversing.
best to remove and add a cushion to the rear of the box.

In my opinion the Suzuki plate is the neater looking but more expensive one.If you’re handy making things not to difficult to copy one from a pattern, the Monokey version is sturdier than the Monolock as stated and is what I use

The mono key and monolock racks are the same the mounting plates are different ,a joke really as they are plastic.

Suzuki plate is metal and the monokey/monolock mounting lugs are removeable

Hi guys, many thanks for your replies to my post. Also apologies for delay in responding as I’ve been offline thanks to scammers😡 I’m pleased to say that all has been sorted. I brought a Givi blade my eldest son ( an electronics nerd) designed a panel & fitted running lights, brake lights, & indicators for me another of my sons got a mate to spray the top in matching white.
All turned out great as pics show. If interested the original backrest kit (as new) I now have for sale.
Many thanks again regards to all & stay safe. Sweep.
