Rocketman - sorry to have missed your post a few weeks back. I picked up a 600i 15 months ago with 3000 miles on - 66 Reg. I run it alongside my CF 1000 Africa Twin. I like the Maxsym a lot, it is comfortable - I did fettle the backrest a little by moving it further back. I have a local bikeshop look after it rre your questions I am afraid. For me it is a good compromise of weight/power with good economy and I do not spare it at all. I have done only about 3000 miles as it not my only ride but it tends to be out more in shitty weather than the Honda and it copes well with what I throw at it.

I have had in past 650 and 400 Burgers, 600 Silverwing and 500 Piaggio - the Maxsym for me holds up very well. I have also had many bikes over many years.

Best wishes
John

Oh sorry passed this by as I rudely posted to you in someone elses post. I see you have someone service yours. I plan on doing my own. I did on my burgman 400. I have the manual and tools.
Maintenance costs like a motorcycle and i could only afford the bike if i were to do it on my own

Is the bike noticeably more powerful than the b400? Just curious on its output. Been trying to find one for a while now

I asked in the other post what you would "guess" how long couod the engine last if not driven hard and maintenance was religousoy done. Not trying to be optimistic on the number just a rough guess

Its a long time since I had a B400 so hard to remember - but the Maxsym 600i feels nice and torquey, and for a 600 it is not too 'Lardy'. When I was looking for one of these I did see a few with a lot more miles on - one of then done mostly 2 up - well into the teens. They havent been around (AFAIK) long enough to get really high milers yet - but I fail to see why it should not last a long time looked after - and I take the view by and large that folk doing their own often do a better job, - I was OK in the 60's polishing cylinder head and piston top and messing with the points but get a bit lost now and not keen on dismantling tupperware.

I swear mine goes better for being ridden quite hard as it was barely run in when I got it. I can see the quality of some of the fasteners etc could be better - but then I have seen the same on some bikes costing far far more.

For me it was a good buy.

ok. bought a 600 yesterday. 18500miles. 2014. nice condition. no scuffs brokjen plastics. the screen yellows and gets whitish so the owner had someone paint it and cut it. I dont like it at all.
posted in some fb forums if someone who has a 400/600 would like to swap. as long as theirs isnt yellowed. I can wet sand and biff clear a faint white one but yellow, you cant bring back. well see if I can find someone. has a top box. seat fabric isnt ripped

rides rough though. meaning, vs the burgman 400, it seems to be brute force. its not too elegant in the way it does things. its hot, so heard the fan go on a few times. dash is much nice on ms600 vs b400. windscreen is way too far out. has some creaking. I think the top box mount and the springs in center stand.
I enjoy the low rpm at 65mph. its only around 4k. should help to keep the engine long lasting. I hope it holds to 50000mi. ill change oil soon. plug too

ordered a belt some sliders and sliding pieces and well see what the cvt looks like. if not ill keep it till its required. has an air horn I think. very obnoxious. it has to go. sounds horrible. like the lowrider latin guys. brake handle on right side is almost touching grip even with tension number on highest. im guessing pads are worn down. will bleed brake fluid as well. order a bleeding gun.
will see about gas filters to replace as well. thats also important. I have the service manual. just difficult to understand as the english is not too proper

the ride is not as great as b400. there is massive turbulence. also the finess is missing on acceleration.decel. its just not refined. there seems to be some hiccuping although light. I think the exhaust needs to be opened and welded as there is "put putting" sound. not sure if others have that as well.

next step is to sell the sym hd200 for half what I just bought 6 weeks ago. ordered some part to rebuild b400 engine. then ill have a backup. where I live when the b400 engine died I had a nightmare of a time to get to work with buses
