Thanks for the update not great having to bypass the immobiliser but at least your on the road.

I'm very curious about this. See, in a traditional key-based system, the immobiliser is an additional check - it confirms the presence of the key electronically using a wireless induction sensor in the key itself. That way, if someone has hot-wired the ignition barrel or turned it with a copied key or screwdriver, the ignition won't fire. If you somehow bypassed the immobiliser - usually part of the ECU - then you'd still have some protection in the form of a mechanical key.

But on my T-Max DX - apparently the same model as @Cloudswiper - there's a keyless ignition system. There isn't really an immobiliser in the traditional sense, but a much longer-range proximity key. If you disabled the immobiliser, then I can only imagine that means the bike no longer needs a key at all...
