Re: Gilera Nexus on Ebay silver.
The listing clearly says it's a 500. If you haven't read it how do you know there are "Better options available for less money"? Age is only one aspect of a potential purchase, and it's a tidy, capable scooter with low mileage and some service history.Rocketman122 wrote: ↑Fri Aug 28, 2020 5:54 pm Nexus. 500 or 300cc?

Its looks ok but not great for the cash.
Odd rear shock.
Do these have the usual pivotey engine as other scoots, looks as if it might.

Funky had a Nexus at one time, and Johnp, who hasn't been here for years now. They were the Italian answer to the Tmax in their time.

The shock is in the rear and there is a strut from the shock to the swingarm/rear drive cover that enables you to adjust the ride height with the blue thing.
I wouldn't pay more than £1350 for it

Yes, a swinging engine design, though Piaggio made some dubious claim that it had all the benefits of a proper swing arm.....XP500FUN wrote: ↑Fri Aug 28, 2020 8:53 pm Its looks ok but not great for the cash.

Low was great for long haul motorway and high was great for twisty fun, with mid for a mixture or couldn't be arsed adjust it mentality

Re: Gilera Nexus on Ebay silver.
I had a Nexus 500 for 3 years, too. If you were o the Maxi Muppets forum rideout at Rutland in 2008, you'd have seen mine too.
Great scooter, arguably the best use of the Piaggio Master engine ever.
Then again, also known as Piaggio's Buell because they were designed as a sports scooter whilst the Master motor was really more suitable for long distance commuting.
Handled brilliantly, and I clocked 125mph on the (admittedly optimistic) speedometer on mine (it had a maximum speed reading that was best to remember to clear on odd occasions.)
The suspension rod adjustment made quite a difference, especially good for winding up the preload when taking a pillion. Mrs Capitano rated it as more comfortable than both my HD Electraglide and my Honda Valkyrie.
Mine was £4k brand new in 2006 and I got half of that back in 2009.
Not prone to longevity. Issues after around 35k are common.
