It's been a while since I was active on this forum. I had a Honda SH300 back then. Now I still have the Honda CB500X and a Honda CB400SF flat tracker build.
I am now hankering after another scoot, but my taste is now retro. Been looking at Vespas, both modern and classic, but they are expensive used.
I almost went for a Lexmoto Milano 125 Efi today at £900, 2017 model with 500kms, but hesitant over build quality.
Anyone have any good recommendations, also have you ever owned a Vespa before, if so what's the build quality like?

welcome back Mr Rover. Its a mater of opinion the Vespa thing. Ive had a few,,, overpriced (thin) metal bodied poorly made small wheeled scoots that burst out in a rash of rust at the first sight of condensation, I had one of the last '15 models that had a warped rear drum, noisy clutch and,,, RUST!!!. The only positive for me was the engine is a lovely burbelling 2-stroke that (for me) has loads of character. Shame!!
I'd put me money in to a Royal Alloy or a new model Lambretta ( or one of the many other clones), as the Vespa life style will give you more garage time than road time IMO.

Lexmoto = Chinese = Russian Roulette. On that basis I wouldn't be tempted by one unless it was bargain basement cheap, which £900 isn't.

Modern Vespas seem to be pretty good mechanically, but can be utter rustbuckets so check carefully for rot in the frame. You will also pay scene tax, as you would on a classic Vespa, but at least the 4-stroke ones can be ridden long distances without needing a support vehicle.

Personally, I would go for a 4-stroke LML Star auto - it has the Vespa retro looks, but without the problems of a 2T engine and stupid twist-grip gearchange. Cheaper new than a secondhand PX and, from what I've seen, the build quality is better than the reassuringly expensive Piaggio product.

The LML 4-T is a good scoot but parts are getting harder to get hold of than a lord Lucan autograph.

If ya just after a 125 maybe a peugeot django 150, lovely bikes.

Thats my problem, I dont take to anything for a long time.

i have the same problem, very rarely jell with a bike/scoot. an even if i do , i still sell them for a new sparkly one..

There's these at P&M tuning, not had a good look at one though. they usualy use a good well tried engine.
