The Tale of Two Muppets...

Post by boboking »

Beep beep beep! went the alarm at 7am this morning, which means its time to unleash the new beast and head into the Peaks.

Bit of a spontaneous ride this one which our Clive was a willing victim...

Image

We had our rendezvous at the famous pre-Matlock layby just north of Amber gate on the A6, Famous only because of its burger van and magical smell of bacon for the early riser, one coffee later...

Image

After a welcome cuppa' we headed north on the Derby road to Grangemill via Cromford, twisting and turning through the bends with the morning sunlight just piercing through the trees on the otherwise enclosed route.

Passing through Historic Bakewell we didn't stop, 10am's a bit early for a tart... we head onto the dizzy heights overlooking Headstone Viaduct. Tummies well and truly rumbling we arrive at the Yonderman café, FEED MEE!!

Breakfast didn't take long....

Image

Once that lot settled we continued our mini tour west via Winnats pass, the weather now turning I didn't need a shower but mother nature had other ideas. Showers not phasing us we work our way to Glossop via little Hayfield to the beginning of Snake Pass.

Nature is truly stunning when in full bloom..

The water looks like coke...

Clive waves a cheery 'Hello!' to the Muppets...

Image

Coming down from the Pass and past Lady Bower reservoir we head the scenic way into Matlock bath, bit faster pace now and suffering well and truly from 'Num Bum' a good rest stop is required...

All in all a fantastic day out which has christened the new gentle giant Vfr1200 DCT who has a quick bath once home to wash before bed.

Thanks again Clive for volunteering to play victim to my trial route!

Great pics buddy.

How's the bike compared to the Mana. I've been looking at this bike too.

Cheers Steven! Bikes a gentle giant, If you go by the reviews online you'd never buy one, on paper its heavy but I'd put money on it not being more then my TMAX (even though it is), Fuel range isn't great for a tourer but fine in reality i'm getting 150/160miles to a tank with a refill costing £16ish. Sports mode is just ridiculously quick (0-60 2.7seconds) & puts the bike very comfortably in Supersports category. Handles superbly and will chew motorway miles all day long with ease, very planted. Twinned with Honda build quality you can get a lot of bike for the same money as a Tmax. :D

Great bike nice ride report.

Special Escort Group don't choose a new model lightly enough said.

The queen is rumoured to like them as well so royal seal of approval
