Oh bugger.........Sorry, but I suspect the insurance co will want to write it off. Being 10 years old, it won't be worth much, and the cost of official plastics is just utterly unbelievable - you know, think of the most it could possibly be, then double it, then add another 50%. Whether you can buy it back off them as a repairable write off might be worth investigating.Turisu wrote: I hope so. Apparently because it's an '02 bike they're sending an assessor out to look at the panel damage and (I guess) decide if it's worth repairing. I hope they don't write it off as I just spent way too much money on it's 20km service a couple of weeks ago and I really don't want another bike.

Re: Down :(
Sorry to hear that, but the tmax is a very sturdy beast. I was doing about 40 when i had a fall back in december and it went under me sliding a good 20 meters. Nothing got broken, only some parts scratched. I was shocked after such a fall and slide that nothing was broken. Lifting was not easy but it felt much lighter than my previous burgman 650 and plus the adrenaline helped too...
I didn't claim anything cause i feared the same thing that they'd scrap it. Anyway it already had scratches before, so i just added to it's style
Now that i had a belt change recently, i'm also in the same league as you, and not intending to sell or hopefully not scrap it for another year or so at least.
Regarding buying back from insurance, i had that happen on my honda concerto. The insurance offered me either a lump sum or keeping it and selling/repairing it off. I first chose the money, then decided to keep it, and thanks to their stupidity, they gave me both
So i sold the car and took it's scrap money from them too, essentially doubling it's return value
It was only worth like £300ish anyway, so not a big amount but still it felt good to have some payback from the insurance leeches.

Dunno what's wrong with you lot, of the two occasions I have dropped the Nexus, it was a easy enough to pick up just like I would a bicycle. A bit heavier but straight forward.

I put a link on a thread, a month or two ago but can't find it now.
You can get full sets for the tmax,, round about £300 /£400 on Italian ebay. They do all colours

Re: Down :(
Well the assessor is coming to look at it on Thursday so I guess we'll see. I've decided that I'm not parting with the bike in any event. If they decide to write it off then I'll either explore the possibility of buying it back, or at worse simply drop the claim and begin the hunt for affordable panels.
I did try and search for the front cowling on ebay.it but I don't know the italian word for panel/fairing and there were pages and pages of Tmax stuff to go through. Can anyone with experience possibly point me in the right direction??Liam wrote:I put a link on a thread, a month or two ago but can't find it now.

Theres this on ebay...
http://www.ebay.it/itm/NERO-SATINATO-KI ... 3cc0365d9b
I've bought from Brixiamoto before. I got a screen from them, no problem with delivery. They seem reputable.
On their own site...

Just look for carene, or carena and various pieces of plastic bodywork will come up.
You'll have to check for colours and I don't know how good the quality is.
Are they as easy to fit as an original part?? i wouldn't know!
Postage may be expensive.
Theres 2nd hand front fairings on ebay uk from £40

If you go for those italian kits, let us know how you got on, as i might be interested in a kit like that too in the future, now that most of my panels are scratched...

Thanks for those links. I've actually seen a front panel that's up for sale at a local dealer but I can't tell if it's the correct colour and typically the guy who deals with these things is on his day off today. I'll have to ring them again tomorrow.

Re: Down (Pics added) :(
Well the assessor has just been and estimates the cost to replace the 3 scratched panels will be about £900, so looks like the bike isn't going to be written off. The decision I've got to make now is, do I go ahead with the insurance claim, get everything brand new but pay £200 excess and lose my NCB? Or do I get the second-hand front panel from my local dealer for £50 and wait for the other panels to come up on ebay for cheap?
In any case here are a couple of pics of the damage, which, after some spit and polish, doesn't look as bad as it did at first:
