Vespa GTS350?

Post by Sgt Ernie Bilko »

How long before Piaggio drop that 33bhp Beverly/X10 lump into a Vespa? ;)

About the same size as the current GTS300 so should just slot in?

Well, if not, they could always put in the step through area like that 600cc Vespa that was on here recently....

They are bound to do a shorter transmission version (to reduce the wheelbase) like they have done in the past for some of their models. I can't quite remember if they did it with the X9 Quasar 250 engine so it would fit the Vespa GTS but they have done it before and it's cheap and easy to do. That's if it's just the wheel base that needs altering. But I bet we see a GT350 in the not to distant future.
Probably not ugly enough for the 'Ugly Bunch'!

I was told they have no plans to put the 350 into any Vespa.

...Yet! In an on-line interview, Mr head of Piaggio (can't remember his name) said the 350 engine will be rolled out across the range eventually, starting with the Beverly and then over time, other Piaggio models. Asked if it would be in the Vespa he replied "very likely" as the 300 engine will be coming to the end of it's life soon due to new euro emmission laws for bikes. So in actuality it won't be for a while yet, IF it happens...maybe mid next year onwards. It's going to end up in all the other current Piaggio 300's as far as I've read in the press and being sold to other manufacturers too. I guess it's watch this space...or rather, the Piaggio/Vespa website.
