I've just spent the last half hour or so reading various articles on the MAG (Motorcycle Action Group) site. I staring with the SMIDSY stuff which originally caught my eye (no pun intended). I'll be trying out that weave myself.
Of general interest might also be the details about which bikes the DSA have just announced are suitable for the new license categories coming out in Jan 19th 2013 http://www.mag-uk.org/en/newsdetail/a7003 Was a little surprised to see the Integra in the 'not suitable for test' category althought the Tmax is a goodun.

Re: Informative stuff
Does not compute at all!!! Why is the Integra not valid, but the NC700 Auto (ie more or less the same bike) valid??? And the TMax is valid but Silverwing not???
And why doesn't it mention Suzuki anywhere????

Re: Informative stuff
Can answer on the Integra, it's not the same bhp as NC700 for some reason only known to Honda (but probably a very good one) the Integra is 51bhp (IIRC) so not under the 47bhp limit as NC700S & X.MrGrumpy wrote:Does not compute at all!!! No idea why Suzuki no longer exists, I bet they failed to respond to HM Govt contacts.

Re: Informative stuff
Now I could be wrong, but I seem to remember reading that the NC700S/X will have the 51bhp engine when fitted with the DCT transmission, whilst they have 47bhp in manual form. Which is why I found the list so baffling.poldark wrote:Can answer on the Integra, it's not the same bhp as NC700 for some reason only known to Honda (but probably a very good one) the Integra is 51bhp (IIRC) so not under the 47bhp limit as NC700S & X.MrGrumpy wrote:Does not compute at all!!! Yep I think that's right too, I guess the examiner has to spot it's the "auto" version but I wonder if they'd still allow you to use for A2 as the model is listed as OK????MrGrumpy wrote:Now I could be wrong, but I seem to remember reading that the NC700S/X will have the 51bhp engine when fitted with the DCT transmission, whilst they have 47bhp in manual form. You couldn't use a Mana as it would break down too often mid test!Wolf wrote:No Mana![]()
