am hoping to go greek island very soon... and instead of spending a fortune on transport there and back..i was initially thinking of leaving the car at gatwick for a week...works out cheaper than trains and cabs... then
i am thinking...why not go on the scoot..... has anyone ever left a bike at an airport for a week..? just wondered if any forum users have done this and what are the costs ..? thanks..

Re: airport scooter parking
Not for a whole week, as luggage might be a bit awkward. But I have done it for 2 or 3 night stays from Stansted and London City. It's no bother at all. The parking is free and there is security around 24hrs.

All London airports are free (don't know about Southend). I've left my scooter in the short stay (red carpark) at Stansted for a week and the Q zone in long stay for four weeks. No problems. I just bungee a suitcase (cabin size) to the pillion seat. I leave my scooter at Stansted regularly.

luggage is no prob...i have groomed her into only needing a medium rucksack... i see people at airport with HUGE suitcases and wonder just what they have in them for 1 week..? women are insane how much clothes they think they need just to go for a week in the sun...
i have left bike at all the airports for a while when i was a bike courier... that was just for 30 mins or so..... didnt know one could leave them for a week or more..... slightly tempted to go have a look in person...id prefer an anchor point for my lock if im leaving it for a week .... my scoot is more cherished than my other half...lol...

Re: airport scooter parking
The red car park in Stansted is a high traffic area just outside the terminal ramp.... so likely to be safe.

When we go to visit the in-laws for a weekend my wife takes a suitcase containing all manner of heated rollers, hairdryers, shoes, coathangers etc, another suitcase full of clothes, a suit carrier full of clothes, the dog's bed, dog blankets, a big box containing dog food, bowls, water bottles, dog toys etc.scorpakid wrote:women are insane how much clothes they think they need just to go for a week in the sun...
If we ever went anywhere for as long as a week I would probably need to hire a transit van!

Re: airport scooter parking
always make women carry their OWN luggage.... its the only way to groom them off ridiculous baggage.... i only take 2 pairs of boxers... dont really wear em underneath in 30 deg heat anyway...and wash one pair out in the sink overnight they dry by morning... but spose its easier for us fellers..
