Northern Riders and Foreign Parts

Post by Gerard C »

I've been looking at at trip away in late September (ish). Checked out with P and O for a weekend away fron Hull to Zeeebrugge. Friday evening to Monday morning. The plan would be get off ferry on Sat AM have a look around Brugge, I've never been but heard its good. Find a cheap Hotel for Saturday night. Food / Beer etc. Then a good day ride out exploring ending back at the ferry for return to Hull.

Ferry with Cabin (2 berth) is quoted at £122.81 pp. Which I didn't think was bad at all. Planning to take the Wife. Effectively 2 nights on board so no hassle and cost in riding to Dover. More time abroad.

So any interest. Dates are flexible. Anybody got experience of this trip and suggestions?

It's worth doing that crossing just for the food in the buffet restaurant.

Yes, Bruges is beautiful.

If you're after a hotel I can't recommend this place enough, you actually park you Scooter/bike in the hotel outside your room.

Bruges is a great place to visit and you must take the canal tour.

Bikers Loft can be a bit boisterous but we had a great time there a few years back.

Hotels in Brugge can be dear.
I've been a few times and got a cheap room at Charlie Rockets close to the centre. I shared a dorm type room and paid £15 but you can get double rooms for about £45. Parking wasn't easy!
And the place was a bit rough.
Better quality hotels in the centre are a lot dearer but i've stayed on the outskirts and got a room with good parking for £50

Doubtful! I reckon I could be through the tunnel and in Brugges in about 6 n a half hours. You'll just be sailing past Great Yarmouth

Forum at its very best! Good helpful stuff and advice. Liam I agree, but as I go past Great Yarmouth I would be asleep. If I am taking the Wife I have to make it comfortable. At £120 for the return including the "Hotel" on board. I thought it was pretty good. Food on board is very good as well. Fuel on my Burgman 650 would cost maybe £40 plus for the trip to the Channel and back. Hotels even a Travel Lodge is another £40 minimum so £80 for the two nights. Or are my figures way off?

Dates are open if any one fancies it.

Love to do something like that but no passport so limited to staying in the UK.
Can you go to Eire without a passport?
