So are the syms and kymcos catching up with Honda and yamaha etc in the build and reliability stakes?

No real way of knowing for sure because there are so few of them on the road.
Indications are that both Sym and Kymco make very reliable scooters.
(BMW better hope so )

Because they don't seem to be too much cheaper. I do like the look of the kymco downtown and sym gts evo!

The nearest competition to the £4000 Kymco Downtown is the £5000 Piaggio X10 330.
For the £3800 Sym GTS300 (260) the nearest competition is the £4500 Yamaha Xmax 250.

If Kymco sold the Downtown with the available ABS, tyre pressure monitors and mph speedo for £4000 it would probably be the best vfm maxi on the UK market.
As it is I think the X10 just edges it overall.

I shouldve said I was looking at 125cc prices, there seems to be less difference with them
