If it aint broke.dont fix it..Leave it,my oldl Honda c90,[3rd 1 i think]did 44400 miles ran lovley,my 1st Honda sh125 has done [now sorned]40080 miles,centre stand fell off.[Remember Terry]now on 2nd Honda sh125 13500 miles.So change the oil,ride it.

Should've worded the above better. As a water cooled 4t its pretty much bullet proof, but I was always taught to let the motor warm up before heading off on to the open road, I'm assuming that applies to autos as well as manual. (advice came from older bike riders)
Id disagree with that Id say move off but be very gentle on throttle till it warms up or at least starts to rise off the stop get choke off asap for carbed or get ecu working weakening mixture for injected asap

I think it is not as important now as machining tolerances are a lot finer and oil is better, however it does no harm
+ another on the no need to let it warm up before you get going. In fact, it can be positively harmful to let the engine fast idle on a regular basis from cold especially on a very cold morning. The engine will take much longer to warm up if doing that, and in the time it is idling with no load on it, there will be loads of bypass gases carrying water and unburned hydrocarbons into the oil which is very bad for the engine. But as Pikey says...don't push it until the engine warms up to near full operating temp. And don't forget that althought the coolant may get to normal temp on the gauge, the oil still won't be up to temp for another mile or two afterwards, so don't thrash it is the watch word, until it's warmed up properly.

My 4 years old Xevo 125 is approaching 34000 miles, and is still running sweet as a nut. Ive had a couple of recent issues, a snapped drivebelt (which at the time sounded terminal). On replacement of the wrecked Malossi set up with Piaggios own again, the performance has returned. On enquiry at a local dealer if the engine had seized, a reply of approaching a grand to return to running condition. in my opinion the Leader and Quasar engines are pretty bulletproof, think youll get plenty more miles out of the motor.
