Tmax prices?

My Father-in-law is retiring and is thinking of upgrading his mk1 Tmax to a MK3. He as a beautiful 02 reg MK1 Tmax in that lovely wine red colour, 18k miles, sports screen, Leo 4Road, leg wind deflectors, new tyres, 6 months tax and passed its MOT yesterday. it really is in lovely condition too. Anyone been watching Tmax prices lately? What d you reckon he would get for it?

What about a MK3 Tmax, what sort of money are they making now? Has the MK4 knocked the mk3 prices down any? What sort of money do you reckon he'll have to pay for an early MK3?

Found this one for £4k buy it now, is that suspiciously cheap? Academic anyway as he hates the colour but was just wondering.

I've put an ad in the wanted section but if anyone sees a MK3 in the south east sort of area for under £5k give us a shout please.

I've been watching prices intently, as there have been some ridiculous amounts just recently. People are starting a mk1 at £2k+, and wondering why they are not shifting. Realistically, for a good condition mk1, you will be looking between £1.5k to £1.8k, and no more.

You can list it at whatever price you want, of course, but if you want to sell, you have to be realistic.

Its a realistic price we need to know as he is going to work out how viable getting a mk3 is. He only did 800 miles on his mk1 last year so I really dont why he wants to tie best part of £5k up in a bike, but as he says I wont have many years left where I can handle a Tmax so I think i'll treat myself. Fair play I suppose.

If t'were me, and the bike is in very good condition, I would be looking for around £1800. Mine sold for £1600, and whilst not in excellent sondition, it was still in good condition.

Have you asked around for a px price?

No not approached a dealer as I'd rather buy and sell privately.

I only got £1450 for mine. I've been looking and seen one go for £1190 recently. But I would never pay more than £1600 for a MK1. There is a MK2 on a 06 plate for £2590. I'm tempted.

I PX'd my 59 plate MK 3 and it went on E Bay but did not sell. It might be worth contacting the owner to see if it is still for sale , it is mint and 6000 miles reg service and ACF 50 was used on it all year round

I'm going to see him this weekend and see where his thinking is at. I've told him its madness to put that much coin into something he does 800 miles a year on but he thinks different. If after a bit of time he still thinks he wants to ignore my advice and go for one (which I secretly hope he does, cos I want a go one one! )then I think we'll put his MK1 up for sale and see if he gets his money on that and then go MK3 shopping!

I suppose he could compromise and go for a mk2 but whilst they are mechanically a lot different to the MK1 I suspect he'll not get past the looks of the MK3?

So the first one is in Dorset on a 59 plate at £4700 and mine is here at £4900 on an 11 plate? Barely a difference in price
My local dealer has an 08 plate up for £4.5k You could try them too (Scootech)
