What an old sh*t-heap the Burgman 650 is!

Post by DougL »

I do realise that this post will irritate a whole load of folk. I haven't actually ridden one, but after sitting on a new one at Intermot Cologne with the analogue dash, I was struck by the poor fit and finish in comparison to similar models form Yamaha, Honda and BMW... Sorry Suzuki but the big burger sucks on first impressions....

I felt the same with the BMW. Didn't they delay the launch because they were so shockingly crap?

This one literally fell to bits in my hand!

I've always felt the opposite. The Burgers, both 400 & 650 are up there with the good stuff. Never seen bad fit or finish on a Burger yet. Maybe the one you were seeing had been jumped about on or summit!
Probably not ugly enough for the 'Ugly Bunch'!

Been riding for 55 years & owned too many bikes to list here...

Well it was the one on the Suzuki stand, a white one. When did it get the new analogue twin clocks display? It Amy be well put together but the look of the finish and the plastics on the dash and bars were dreadful. Maybe they're cost cutting.

Indeed, I agree. The BMW seems to have dramatically improved since EICMA I was just surprised at the Burgman. Aren't we allowed to change our mind on here?

The new TMax still has the best finish of the lot.

By the way I'm not saying the big burger is a heap of junk in terms of build, the finish is just crap...

That's what I thought, just wanted to check ;)

I really cannot believe Suzuki would stoop lower than BMW have with poor quality plastics and finish

Maybe because it's a pre production model?

Well, you'd have thought that if you were a manufacturer, you'd hand build anything that was going on show, using specially made parts if necessary!!!

My recollection of my big Burger was that it was generally very well made, but some of the plastics round the dash, especially the storage compartments looked very cheap. Ditto my baby Burger - its generally very good, but some of the plastics on the dash look a bit iffy, and the plastics need lots of Autoglym to keep them looking reasonable.
