Actually, this has all reminded me that there were some good things about the Burger...the cavernous luggage space, the endless fun I had with the electric mirrors and screen, the fact that the drive belt doesn't need replacing.....and if they've fixed the clutch so that you can actually push it around when cold, that would be a big improvement!
If only it was more fun.....

Re: The 2013 Burgman
I too found the left handlebar switch a bit complex but once I got used to where everything was I was fine with it. I'm talking about an extended test ride I had some time ago when my Vstrom was in for a service. The 650 didn't leave a major lasting impact on me at the time, not like the 400 did later on in a similar situation. However, I have vivid recollection of being on the A12 coming out of Ipswich on the 650 only to find a bunch or drunken retards in an old Golf GTI with the windows down shouting abuse at me as they overtook. They then cut in front of me and proceeded to throw empty and I think partly full cans of beer at me, all of which I missed. The great thing about the 650 was that all I needed to do was tweak the throttle and I blasted past them with consumate ease leaving as big a gap as I could as I went by. The driver proceeded to floor his Golf but the 650 just left him I saw triple digits on the clock for a moment but it did the trick and they dropped out. I reported the incident later that day to be told the car was stolen and had been recovered! They took a statement. The crooks were later prosecuted and sent on a good holiday to Spain to relax and destress so they wouldn't commit anymore crimes!!

Probably not ugly enough for the 'Ugly Bunch'!

Re: The 2013 Burgman
I'm beginning to get the impression that the replacement of the final drive gear train by a chain is a figment of Suzuki GB's imagination, as there is no mention of this anywhere else! Its been pointed out that the swing arm looks identical to the old model's.

Suzuki GB have updated their site to reflect the 2013 Burgman 650 correct final drive.bornagainbiker wrote:The main item I spotted from the technical specs on Suzuki Uk is that the current model and I presume all previous models have a 'Gear' Final drive but the new 2013 model is a Chain! More to service and replacement? I must admit having 5 geared cogs to drive the rear wheel is a bit unusual.

Re: The 2013 Burgman
A little longer than the old version, though the rear ranks actually look a bit more svelte than old one. I wouldn't like to try and pick one up if I dropped it....(I know there's a proper technique, but I don't fancy laying my TMax on the floor to try it!)macp wrote:She looks a big old beasty

Since it is barely any different to the current version, one would be very unimpressed if they tried to charge more for it......but this is the UK scooter market, so who knows!charles1976 wrote:curious as to pricing of the new burgman, gonna have to be less than the bmw to drive punters into the dealerships!!

Re: The 2013 Burgman
Grumpy, I think that's an overstatement to say it's virtually the same. There's not a panel on the bike that is the same appparently. It looks much more like an overgrown 400 now too. Electrically and mechanically, there are quite a few changes although the main engine components are very much the same but have been refined somewhat in some area's. Some changes are not very obvious though. But hope the price is not hiked up.

Parsimonious times, but with ten years or more of comment, observation, recommendation, criticism and the arrival of the BMW 650GT and to a lesser extent the SRV850 and the MyRoad 700i) THIS is the best they can do..?
Woeful.
The only hope is there's a new 400 for EICMA and that's where the budget's been spent...
