Can Bob Heath anti-fog spray be used on glasses?

I wear contact lenses at work all day so if I go out on the scooter at night I have to wear glasses which is a right pain in the arse as they fog up as soon as I put them on.

I've got some Bob Heath spray * linky * but I'm not sure whether it'll be safe to use on reaction lens specs. I've searched ebay for stuff just for glasses but it usually comes up with something like "ANTI-MIST/ANTI-FOGGING / CLEANER HELMET VISOR/GOGGLES /SKI /GLASSES SPRAY".

The directions on the Bob Heath tin don't mention anything to do with glasses.

I don't wear glasses, but aren't the lenses coated in special stuff? The spray may take this coating off, have you thought about asking your optician and show them the Bob heath stuff or contact the makers of the spray.

Yeah I suppose the best way is to go down to the opticians and see if they sell anything. I just thought I'd ask on here to see if anyone had tried it.

You can put various anti-fog sprays on glasses...though I don't know anything about the Bob Heath stuff.

I've got some 'Fog Tech' stuff which I've bought from www.visorvision.co.uk (they have a few interesting bits of stuff on there) which is recommended for glasses. I haven't tried it on my glasses, though I did put some on the visor in recent foggy weather, and it seemed to help a bit.

I wear my contacts from 5:00am till 10:00pm, they are soft lenses, I have done this for 20 years or more... your not supposed to but I regularly wear glasses only at the weekends (unless I go out) to give my eyes a break.

You need to get some air to your eyes fella! You'll bugger them up wearing contacts for that long.


Your eyes need oxygen to stay healthy. Contact lenses are made of different kinds of materials that allow differing amounts of oxygen to get through. This makes certain types of lenses acceptable for sleeping.

You may wonder why it matters how much oxygen your eyes get if they’re closed anyway. Actually, the outermost portion of the cornea (the clear dome covering the colored part and pupil) gets much of its oxygen in dissolved form from the tears! Contact lenses can block this process.

Some materials are also more prone to deposits, such as proteins and lipids, which are normal components of our tears. If they build up on the lens, they can cause problems, including infection. (Besides, nobody wants to look through a dirty window.)

Various products are available to clean and disinfect lenses; however, if you don’t use them properly, or if you wear the lenses longer than the prescribed amount of time, you put yourself at risk for complications such as corneal ulcers and inflammation.

I get my eyes checked twice a year and no issues in 20 years... *shrug*

Why dont you just get lenses that you can wear all day. I have mine in for 16/17 hours a day, they have a higher water content.

i don't need to wear them for longer. i'm happy to wear my glasses at night but the once a week scooter club meet is when i need my glasses to not steam up.

Ive got some bob heath anti fog, Im going out on scoot in the morning, Ill test it on me new bin lids and let you know what happens.
