Re: Accident
Now don't all bite my head off here, I'm glad he's ok but he was overtaking a car that was turning left and blocked any driver from seeing him. The merc should have stopped though.

Re: Accident
Ouch, I hope he gets it sorted out easily.
I wouldn't have gone for that gap personally as the queuing cars will mistakenly expect the left turner to block traffic for them and he blocks the view of the bike - but the Merc driver is cleary a twat and in the wrong.

Re: Accident
I agree, those gaps I take more cautiously in case the car drivers are not looking, car driver is a tosser for driving off. Looks like the TMax went down because of loss of front end traction under heavy braking... its hard to tell, this is why my camera is front facing and not on the side of the helmet. However by the time the TMax is along side the car turning left you could fit a car in the gap left so that could have been a car on car collision.

Re: Accident
Anyone called that number he's giving on the video yet ? Might be one of ours...
I face this type of dangers on my commute everyday. Not only the side road exiting vehicles present this problem but also on old kent road and new kent road where oncoming traffic turns to a side road on my left by fitting in between stopped vehicles when i ride down the bus lane. Some close calls taught me to take it extremely cautiously on those stretches

Re: Accident
The tmax didn't overtake as such. He just continued in his lane when the micra moved into the bus lane.
But Tmax man does seem a bit slow in the brakes, though. If he was going as slow as he makes out, and watching for traffic,, he should have been able to stop in
what looks like 12 to 15 yards or so. I expect people to pull out so I cover the brakes most of the time.

Re: Accident
Did the Merc driver actually realise that he'd knocked the bike over. I couldn't see any damage on the car.

Re: Accident
I don't think they've collided but the scoot seems to be on its side as the driver waves acknowledgment so he must have known.

Re: Accident
Incidentally, the reason it wouldn't start is because the tilt sensor had killed the engine. He needed to reset this by turning the ignition off and on again. That accident was totally predictable if the rider had been using proper observation. On the other hand I would say that the Mercedes driver was more at fault. Guesses to how this would go in court? Maybe 100% liability to the motorist, but more likely 70/30
