Punture Repair Gel any Good???

Got a punture this morning,
Size of a M6 screw, unscrewed and taken the screw out,
But not sure if I should get the tyre changed or use the instant repair gel,
I have used it on my mountain bike in the past and it has worked but not sure how it will be on a bike,
Specially driving flat out...

It does work, but not everyone has had success with it.
I would plug it then as backup also add some gloop. If the tyre still has decent tread at least try a repair, but if it's getting shot anyway don't waste your time just get a new one but gloop it afterwards then you won't get in this dilemma again with a bit of luck.

The tyre still has a lot of life left,
Used 2 of the cheap 0.99p instant repair cans,
Will see in the morning if it holds up

I have used it int he past but it was no good on my last puncture so i haven't bothered anymore.

Just had a look now and it's held up fine,
Not sure what the tyre pressure was suppose to be on my bike but set it to 32psi,
Hopefully it stays intact by the time I get to work...

If it hold up, should I still if it as I would need to buy the plug kit...

Yes, you should not rely on cheap cans of goop. At 99p a can, I take it you have put in the 'instant' repair stuff which is designed for short term by the roadside use to get you home only. Word of warning: when that stuff lets go, you'll know all about it. It's lethal! Once you have used that stuff you cannot have a proper repair carried out so the tyre is useless. If you put a product like Ultraseal in the tyre from new, that's different. Mostly it works very well and makes a permanent repair if you get a punture. Or, you can wash out the Ultraseal and have a conventional repair made if you wish after you get home. It's water soluble. Either way, as far as I know the plug kits are legal to buy, but not legal to use in this country for road vehicles since they have been deemed dangerous by the DOT. I don't think that has changed so be wary.

Best bet just get the tyre changed at the weekend...

I didn't know plugs were illegal Data, i always carry a repair kit with plugs in it. I recently got a two inch screw in my rear tyre causing a puncture(about a month ago) i plugged it as the tyre has over three mm of tread on it. I check tyre pressures weekly and it hasn't lost any pressure, or effected the handling. I intend to run on it till the tyre needs changing. I have done the same before and never had any problems. The only time i ever had any problems was with Puncture Seal, this was supposed to seal a puncture if it happened all i found was, every time i checked tyre pressures i got a load of this gunk coming out of the valve.

No - the temporary get you home plugs must be legal to use. The AA/RAC wouldn't fit them otherwise. Of course, there are speed and distance rules to abide by. As for permanent plugs, these are legal, though the repairer may deem some problems unfixable.
