piaggio x10 update

Post by the butcher »

hello all first sorry for bad spelling
well i have had the bike three months now and i have had many scooters so its fair to say i know a little, during the spell of cold weather i took her to march in cambs as my brother took very ill thanks he is okish, anyway she was great no problems at all, i was worried about the small wheels but the asr traction control worked and at one point though the fens it was _6 i had a heated jacket trousers on and heated bars and seat , no i power all this from a nice big car battery under my seat.it lasts all day and its better then putting load on the bike ,
first the screen is ok if your normal but being tall its a bit shit, the wind roars in my suberth helmet which in my view is crap heavy and the sound in my ears is like jets above me all the time.
the bike performs well the lights are great horn loud and the clocks are easy to read.
it slips petrol the range i am getting to a whole tank is 350 miles so if someone can work it out thats 17 pounds of petrol to 350 miles ,
problems only one so far the starter clutch has been striped twice as sounds coming from rear today piaggio are looking at it other problems are mirrors but apart from that buy one i could of brought the tmax but i look the look of this bike,
my dn01 is having a winter service now as i got it in my head that i want to ride coast to coast from new york to la and that should be there weeks hope all my mates are well as you know i do not go out much as i was so ill but getting better all the time this weeks been a bit shit but thats life happy holidays to all if any of you want a ride come over your more then welcome

Well I'm pleased to see your X10 is doing well. It'll be interesting to hear about the starter problem, probably a manufacturing fault rather than a design fault..... (guess work on my part).

As for your DN-01, they are beautifully built machines, but they should have priced the a lot cheaper.

350 mile range???? Thats ginormous! It isn't reading in Km is it?? Assuming petrol is 133p pr litre ie £6.05 a gallon, £17 will buy you 2.8 gallons (say 14ltrs which sounds OK), but 350 miles with 2.8 gallons is 125mpg....which is not just sipping, but basically running on air! If it was 350km rather than miles, that would be 77.5mpg which is still very good - and much more likely.

It must be kms (or I'm taking mine back for a new one  ), that would figure, more or less, with what I'm getting.

Yes it must be reading in km's I get about 250mls out of a full tank or you must have a super saving ECO switch, lol. Only problems I have had are the piaggio alarm fitted by the dealer has no motion sensitivity you can shake the scoot on nad off the stand and no alarm! They damaged two dash panels whilst fitting the alarm, one has been replaced the second arrived damaged so waiting for another. The petrol cap cover push button stopped working and the seat button started working intermittantly and now that has failed, thank goodness they fitted manual levers.

oh i forgot two front panels did not fit when new and i broke the flap thats on the petrol tank by kicking it anyway its in my boss wherehouse locked to the other bike and his floor till i see sunlight, when i was younger i rode in snow so deep that i was in hospital for a day as i was so cold, never worried me long trips no problem, now i can not even stay awake on a short 100 miles , i did 30000 miles on my hexagon now i can even ride to goodwood round trip in one day i just lose my connotations . must be the age.
is it time to sell the bikes and slow down or is it the fact that the good days are over lol
