Thanks everyone for all the great advice. I feel much clearer about being able to make the right decision. I'm looking forward to doing my CBT on Saturday :D ......I just hope it goes well.

Hello Butch,, and welcome.

I've never done a CBT as I'm old and passed my test when training wasn't pushed much.

I know in Derbyshire they do a CBT Plus as well. It costs £15 which is a subsidised price from the usual £75.

Not sure if your local council do a similar scheme but its probably worth having a look at.

Taken from another forum.
Honda Vision at Dobles are £1499 otr.No as much as i like/swear that the Honda sh125i is best.[for me] At the currant price £3250.Is too much.Even i wouldnt buy at that price. But the Honda Vision at less then 1/2 ££ is better.Less power but less weight/a/c engine. All you need in London. :P

The only recommendation I would make is to go for a bike with big wheels rather than small ones.
It's easier to get around the bollards. Small wheels don't give you much help and you feel the bumps much more too.

CBT went well considering I have never been on a bike before. It really opened my eyes to the dangers bike riders face. There was a young lad (turned 16 the day before) on the training with me, and I was shocked that someone with no road experience at all is allowed to ride on the road after one days training. He wasn't really aware of up coming dangers and had total tunnel vision. There is no way these kids should be allowed on the road without more intense training. I am truly worried for his safety and other road users.

If buying new, the only three I would be looking at in your position are the aforementioned Fly, the Vespa LX, both with the excellent new 3v engine and the Honda PCX.
The Piaggio & Vespa score heavily over the Honda because of the low maintenance requirement.
Honda 125 service intervals are 2500 miles, the 3v engined Piaggio and Vespa... 6000 miles.
The Honda S-wing is much more expensive but now has ABS as standard and is probably the best 125 available in the UK.
