TMax fever was causing the engine to not start relating to over heating usually in hot weather causing fuel pump failure or resulting in failure, I guess it could be a sign its starting to go or it could be thermostat failing?

I guess its not the thermostat itself, but whatever sensor measures the temperature of the water in the radiator. The sensor is, I think, not sending any data to the FI, so the FI is going into failsafe mode by turning the cooling fan on most of the time in case the engine is over-heating.
However, the remaining mystery is why the warning light isn't on all the time, and why the temp gauge has suddenly decided to show Max.

What year is your Tmax Grumpy?
The fuel pump problem was with late Mk2's. And Mk3's up to about the end of 2010.
And it usually began to show itself more in warm weather.

Mine is 2008, early mk3. Don't tell me about more problems I might have - I have enough already!

Well...........

Its been to the mechanics today for a service and for them to look at the coolant temp sensor issues.....Turns out the reason the water temperature gauge is on maximum is that the radiator has failed and its lost almost all its coolant :!: Duh??? I wouldn't mind, but it already a new radiator 2.5 years ago (under warranty)!! The problem last time was that a pipe leading to the radiator sprung a leak at a 90degree bend, and its done the same thing again! Its all very odd - last time, I noticed loads of coolant coming out of the scooter, this time I haven't, though I've noticed the ground has been damp underneath it, but I put that down to road water/muck draining off. Surely I'd have noticed losing most of the coolant?? Apparently the 'new' radiator looks completely rotten, so maybe it wasn't replaced after all. I dunno. Of course, new radiators aren't cheap (£327 apparently) but they are going get a specialist to try and repair it, since I was thinking of selling it in the spring anyway.

I think I need a lie down....
