Article I've stumbled across relating to Kymco manufacturing of BMW engines, which we already knew, but alludes to a new 400cc on the way - would it come to the UK?

Re: Suggestion of 400cc BMW scoot to come
From something I saw elsewhere: 35-40 hp 400cc various trim levels, if the suits can be convinced that it needs lots of storage it should be interesting.
The success of the 600/650 will hopefully spur them on to a full production run.

CCM are using a Kymco 450 engine in thier new mini-adventure bike... as 450 seems to be the Dakar limit... possibly/probably the same unit supplied to BMW... as mentioned in the above link artice...
Seems Kymco are on the up and maybe the next Rotax...

Re: Suggestion of 400cc BMW scoot to come
I've got a copy of MSL from a year or so ago, which contains an interview with a senior BMW man, and he said that BMW would be bringing extra scooters to go with the current two, so I guess this kind of confirms it. Obviously makes sense as the smaller cc market is bigger (and they'll want something to go into the A2 licence category). They'll have to mind their prices though....

Re: Suggestion of 400cc BMW scoot to come
In today's MCN they had an interview with Stephan Schaller (General Director of BMW Motorrad). He confirmed that BMW will be producing sub 500cc motorcycles and scooters within the next 3 year's. So it is going to happen...

I did put this story on the UK attitude to motorcylces thread but its vanished. And this isn't the only one of my posts that vanished! Am I being censored?

A Burgman competitor. That will be interesting. Have to see what it is like. Plus of course what the price will be as the 600/650 isn't exactly cheap...

Re: Suggestion of 400cc BMW scoot to come
Kymco also have an OEM agreement with BMW to produce a 400cc engine to be used as a range extender in an electric car and that makes some of the rumours a bit misleading - they aren't always talking about the same thing.
